The Casio journey continues

As mentioned in a previous post, I quickly fell in love with the compact Casio Z90, which served as our family camera back in the day. I won't go over the specs again, since I did that already here. Due to its small size, I can carry it with me to as many places as possible which allows me more creative opportunities to capture small moments I probably wouldn't consider photo-worthy on a daily basis. Having this camera on me at all times led to me looking actively for the beauties of everyday life, such as a small shadow, a colorful environment, or an interesting composition. A huge benefit is also the point-and-shoot aspect, such as the easy and quick process of snapping a picture and then just moving on, a breath of fresh air from the manual days, which still give you the best results in my opinion, and creative freedom too. The following images are from the corridors and gardens of an Austrian asylum center, which was quite an interesting location to shoot at.

I had such luck with today's weather being mostly sunny, resulting in harsher shadows that look just stunning when cast on the floor or walls.

Probably as a combination of the older sensor, the lens, and my style of editing, it doesn't take much to give the images a film-like look.

It might be the result of the smaller sensor, but when shooting towards the sun, the highlights get really soft and the result is a dehazed and very moody picture, which I absolutely love.

I love these shots because of the square pattern the sun is painting on the ground, the symmetry of the glass wall, and the colorful flowers being a contrast to the bright whites, all these adding up to a very peaceful and summer-like mood.

Never knew stairways could look this good, especially in black and white. Love the little highlight on the lower railings too!

Probably my favorite image of the day is this one portraying some dryers in an empty corridor, with the sun shining brightly through the window, creating a dreamy look.

For me, this one is more than just a moody picture, but more like a small window into the circumstances under which asylum seekers have to live. Mostly dirty, old, and small spaces, often shared with others escaping from warzones or just looking for some hope or a fresh start. At the end of the day, we have to be grateful for everything we have these days and cherish even the small things, like a clean bathroom, fresh sheets, or just the peaceful environment surrounding us. Didn't mean to turn this post into something sentimental, but I felt it has to be added to give these images deeper meaning and be a reminder to not worry about most of the things we do so much such as social media, or comparing ourselves to others. Have a lovely day, and take some pictures!
