3 Ways to instantly get better with Photography

Limit yourself

This might sound contradictory, but you will be grateful for this one. Limiting yourself to certain gear, location, lens, or time of the day forces you to adapt, with the equipment you have, or the environment you are surrounded by.  It can be as easy as just taking pictures with your phone for a day, instead of your camera.

At the end of the day, photography mostly means how well you can adapt, to certain circumstances, and still get some good pictures out of it, this becomes especially true when you “have” to deliver the pictures for the brand, client, etc.

Try something new

New lens, new gear, location, or just a new way to portray your subjects. Do you shoot full-body portraits? Try closeups! Mostly shoot color? Try monochrome! Look for new locations you never shot before, and enjoy exploring that location.

Lately, I feel the urge to go more the abstract route, instead of taking basic portrays.

I realized this every time I visited my girlfriend in London, that my pictures looked different every time, whether the way I shot, or the editing, I always tried to evolve, or try something different.

Having a camera on you at all time

Even if it's just your phone, or a small digital camera this point is often overlooked, yet so crucial!! The more images you take, the better you will get, and the quicker you will identify your mistakes, or discover new ways to shoot, even retrospectively.

I experienced this first handed when I started carrying my small digital Casio with me, that just the additional amount of pictures taken led to many actual great ones, and that the limitations of that camera helped me to see things in a different way too!

Hopefully, these tips helped you on your path as a photographer, take some great pictures, and have a lovely day!
